The Tree of Life or the Worldtree, that the Vikings called Yggdrasil, was for them what we today would call the Universe. It was the connection between the Gods, the deads, the giants and the human world. At the foot of the tree there was a spring called Mimer. In the topp there was a bird and at the rooth a snake. A squirrel, Ratatosk, ran up and down the tree to pass bad words between the bird and the snake.
